On Oct. 25th, 6 club members did a trash pickup along a 2 mile stretch of Route 114 between Ramsdale Road and the town's Transfer Station. This community service project is part of the Henniker Rotary Club's commitment to do its part to keep Hennker beautiful for its residents and visitors. Thanks go to club member Dan DaCosta for organizing and leading this activity and to the club members who participated. Club member and club past president Jean Lewis was the featured speaker at our breakfast meeting on Oct. 16. Jean is a licensed real estate broker and owner of Jean Hooker Real Estate in Henniker. She gave an excellent presentation on the state of the real estate market in our state.

Molly Hodgson-Smith was the featured speaker at our breakfast meeting on Oct. 9. Molly is the Executive Director of the NH Businesses for Social Responsibility. This organization's mission is to build and support a network of businesses committed to adopting socially responsible business practices, recognizing that people, principles and profits are inseparably linked. At our breakfast meeting on Oct 9th, Tim Pigsley was inducted into membership by Club President Paul Trocki and Membership Chairman Peter Flynn. Tim is owner/manager of the Henniker Motel and resides in Henniker with his wife Lane' and 3 children Sarah, Andrew and Megan. Congratulation Tim on becoming a Rotarian. District Governor Alice (Alley) Boucher was the featured speaker at the club's breakfast meeting on Sept. 18. The District Governor's presentation focused on Rotary's theme for 2008 - 2009, Make Dreams Real. She also emphasized the District's objectives for this year which are to deal with issues concerning child mortality, sustaining and growing membership, and improving communications. Thank you Alley for your visit to our club and your dedication to serving District 7870 as District Governor for 2008 - 2009. District 2 Senate candidate Andy Sanborn was the featured speaker at our breakfast meeting on Oct. 2nd. Andy gave an excellent presentation on his candidacy for the state Senate and his position on the various issues facing the citizens of our state. The Henniker Rotary Club made a $3,000 contribution to Rotary's Polio Plus program whose objective is the eradication of polio throughout the world. At its breakfast meeting on Sept 11, the club inducted Otto Nielsen into membership. Otto resides in Washington, NH and is retired. He worked in the telephone service industy and his last position was with Granite State Telephone as Controller. He has been a Rotarian for 35 years and was a Past President of the Queen City club in Manchester. At its business meeting on July 31, the club inducted into membership 2 new members, Karen Bixby-Remick and John Capuco. Karen is Branch Manager of Citizens Bank in Henniker and John is a Clinical Psychologist with the Bureau of Developmental Services specializing in brain injury services.
